CEREC - Same Day Dental Crowns

A whole new breed of dentistry for the busy people of Bristol. How great would it be to be able to have your dentistry in a single appointment? Many people find that having dental crowns and permanent white fillings is not the most productive way of spending their time - often having to return for repeat appointments means you get less done of things you need or wish to do!

Save time at the dentist

With CEREC we use modern technology to allow your new tooth to literally be ‘born in front of your eyes’ and save time at the dentist. CEREC Same Day Crowns use 3 steps to help save you time:

  1. We digitally scan your tooth which needs the filling or crown (this replaces the impression goo)
  2. The computer then designs your new tooth on screen (this replaces the dental technician and saves time)
  3. Our milling machine gently cuts your new tooth from a solid block of industrial grade ceramic (this is the part where your new crown is born in front of your eyes)

CEREC is great if:

  • You are nervous of needles and want to reduce the amount of injections you have
  • You lead a busy lifestyle and don’t wish, or are unable, to come to many repeat appointments
  • You find dental impressions uncomfortable with them making you gag

Faqs

  • What is a Cerec crown or inlay?

Cerec is the brand name of a system that can design and make a crown in a single visit. It uses 3-D imaging technology to take a picture of your tooth once it has been prepared, and then will design the ideal shaped crown or inlay. This information is used by the milling unit to create your crown.

  • What is the crown or inlay made from?

A Cerec crown or inlay is 100% metal-free but still incredibly strong. It is made out of ceramic and bonded to your tooth. The material that the crown or inlay is made from bends and flexes in a similar way to natural tooth material, so reduces the chance of tooth fracture in the future.

  • Why would I choose a Cerec crown or inlay?

These crowns are currently ideal for all areas of the mouth other than the very front, where the artistry of a technician would provide a better aesthetic result. Because a Cerec crown is made at Evolve while you wait, you save time as you only need one appointment, meaning that you only need one injection.

  • What happens during my appointment?

During your appointment you would still be made numb if you require local anesthetic. Your tooth or teeth are then prepared for the crown or inlay.

Once the dentist is happy that the tooth is the correct shape, a camera will scan the it, the opposite teeth and the teeth biting together. From this information, the crown or inlay can be designed and customised for your mouth. Once the crown or inlay has been designed it is milled in the milling unit.

During this process you can relax in our reception area with a cold drink and read a magazine or you can watch your crown or inlay being created. It is then cemented into your mouth. As the Cerec system is incredibly accurate, your crown or inlay will have an excellent fit.

  • How long will my Cerec crown or inlay last?

Studies have shown that a Cerec restoration can last as long as conventional crowns or even longer. The average lifespan is 10 -15 years if properly cared for.

  • Will it cost me any more to have a Cerec crown?

The cost to you is the same as a traditional crown or inlay as we believe this is one of the best way to restore your teeth and so would like you to benefit from the technology available.

  • Can I come to you if I already have a dentist?

Yes, we are happy to carry out your treatment and you would continue to see your own dentist for all your routine treatment.

  • What do I do next?
