At Evolve Dentistry, we appreciate the importance of natural, healthy looking teeth for a confident smile. For this reason, we only use tooth-coloured, mercury-free fillings on back teeth, created from contemporary materials and designed to blend in with your natural tooth colour.
For minor cosmetic changes to the shape of front teeth we can also use the same technique which is often called bonding.
Here are somes example of dental bonding from Evolve Dentistry in Portishead, Bristol.
| A baby tooth that never came out which resulted in it becoming dark and looking too small against the adult teeth. | After dental bonding from our practice on the outskirts of Bristol, the tooth now looks full size and a great colour. |
| This lady didn't like the rough edges to her teeth or the small canine (eye tooth) on the right of the picture. Her smile looks slightly uneven. | After cosmetic tooth bonding the edges of her teeth are smooth, and the undersized canine is now a better length and size. A more balanced smile. |

Fillings are used to restore cavities (holes) that have formed in your
teeth, usually due to decay or damage.
By closing off spaces where bacteria can enter, a filling also helps
prevent further decay.
During an examination the dentist may find signs of decay indicating that a filling is necessary. They may also find signs of deeper decay on a x-ray or your teeth. The only way to get rid of this tooth decay is to remove it and replace with a filling.
Composite (white) fillings are made from powdered glass quartz, silica or other ceramic particles added to a resin base. This is a totally inert and safe material that has been used for many years on many millions of teeth around the world.
Bonding is the process by which we 'bond' small amounts of the same composite material we use in fillings to cosmetically alter your front teeth. This can be done to:
This cosmetic dental procedure can often be done with no injections and so is a very simple way of correcting problems with you teeth. Of course, only small adjustments can be made and larger changes to colour may required tooth whitening or veneers and changes to the angulation of teeth may require veneers or orthodontics.
Firstly the dentist will remove decayed tooth material and clean the area. After the tooth is prepared, the filling is bonded onto the area and a light shone onto it to set it. The dentist will choose a shade to match your existing teeth. The tooth fillings then become invisible as they blend in with your natural tooth; there are many patients around the Portishead, Bristol and Clevedon areas that have been to see us for white fillings... but you'd never know!
No. Appropriate local anaesthetic is used (if applicable) so you should feel no pain.
And if you are nervous anxious or afraid of the dentist, you can
relax with our dental sedation services.
At Evolve we only place white, composite fillings
